Volkswagen test quantum navigator

Volkswagen test quantum navigator

Volkswagen began testing the quantum navigator. The experiment will be held as part of the Web Summit technology conference in Lisbon. The difference between this system and the usual navigation is obvious. Standard navigators work by this principle: they search for the least busy routes, choose the best option from all, offer its driver.

The quantum mechanism provides the best personification of the route, taking into account the user's location. In other words, this system is able to build an individual route for the driver in real time. Experts expect that this will make it possible to use the road grid as efficiently as possible, minimize the risk of getting stuck in traffic jams, including repeated ones, caused by a large number of cars traveling along one path.

The long-awaited novelty will be tested on several buses of the public transport operator of Lisbon. They will be connected to the quantum computers that were released by the Canadian giant D-Wave Systems. Buses will run in four directions, between the conference venue and different corners of the city.
