Opel CEO Michael Losheller said that during the restart of production under the PSA, the brand has every chance to regain its position in leading world markets and hopes to resume operations in Russia.
The strategy remains unchanged. According to the statements of the top manager, the Opel brand will be restarted in Russia in the fourth quarter of this year. At the Kaluga plant, PSA will be engaged in the production of a Zafira Life minibus and a Vivaro commercial van, Crossland X and Grandland X SUVs. It is noteworthy that the question regarding the latest model remained open for a long time - earlier it was planned to import the Grandland X crossover from Eisenach.
“General Motors' decision to remove the Opel brand from Russia surprised us. At the moment, there are about 500 Opel cars in the Russian Federation, the brand does not lose its popularity. In general, it is easier for a German brand to exist in Russia than a French one, ”the German edition of Automobilwoche quotes Loscheller.
