The charged version of the BMW X3 with the M prefix, which will first appear in the segment of mid-size models of the German company, will receive an 3-liter 500-strong turbo engine.
This motor received the index S58B30 and was developed on the basis of the B58 engine with a double turbo. It will replace the petrol unit S55, which is now equipped with serial models BMW M3 and M4.
In this case, the machine will be equipped with a hybrid power plant, powered by an 48-volt electrical network. A motor with a belt motor will be used to start the gasoline engine after the start-stop system is activated and at the beginning of the movement.
BMW X3 M will first appear in a series of SUVs. The car will compete with Audi SQ5 and Mercedes-AMG GLC63. According to unofficial sources, its official premiere will be held in March 2018 in Geneva, and the start of sales through dealer networks is scheduled for the fall.
