The new iteration of the SUV is arguably one of the most anticipated car innovations this year. The first photos began to appear on the Internet about a month ago, but the official presentation of the model is scheduled for the end of May. But journalists have already managed to get some data on the technical characteristics of the car.
It is known for certain that the overall dimensions will remain the same, with the exception of the height. The Land Cruiser 300 has grown by 35 mm and the height of the model is 1945 mm. Recall that the length of the predecessor was 4950 mm, the width was 1980 mm, and the distance between the wheels was 2850 mm. The engineers didn’t think too much about the angles of entry and exit, so as not to worsen the excellent off-road qualities of the “two hundred”.
For the same purposes, the ground clearance has been preserved. The solution with the location and number of fuel tanks migrated to a new generation - there will still be two for the five-seat version and one for the seven-seat version. But they decided to reduce the volume in both cases. In the first case, the tanks are reduced by 5 liters (35 liters for a new car), and in the second immediately by 13 - up to 80 liters. The body will be updated and will receive a new aluminum roof.
The frame structure is likely to remain intact, since there is no point in changing a successful solution. The same can be said about the continuous rear axle, four-wheel drive with a reduction gear. But the chassis will be complemented by interesting options. In particular, there will be a blocking of both cross-axle differentials and a system for opening anti-roll bars (Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, KDSS).
Despite the fact that the manufacturer announced a new platform, judging by the name, only some elements will be added to it (the LandCruiser 200 platform is called TNGA, and the new one received the -F prefix).
V8 engines will not be installed on the new generation, Toyota plans to curtail their production altogether by 2023. The SUVs will be equipped with either V6 3,3 biturbo (415 hp) or V6 3,3 turbodiesels (306 hp).
