Under this name, the general public is well aware of several American cars at once. So, from 2000 to 2007. a crossover was produced, known in some countries as the Escape. In the 70s of the twentieth century, Ford coupes and small sedans were Mavericks, and in the 80s and 90s, this was the name of the analogues of large Nissan SUVs - Terrano II and Patrol.
Now, under the familiar name, Ford is preparing a completely new model - a compact pikam with a four-door cab. Judging by the photographs available to auto journalists, the exterior of the SUV will resemble the exterior of its "older brothers", and above all the F-Series. The novelty will receive U-shaped LED headlights and a large grille.
On the side, the design of the car is typical for all pickups. The only relatively striking detail is the embossings above the round wheel arches. The new F-150 SUV also has such. The taillights are hexagonal, the side cover is quite traditional and is distinguished only by the large Maverick lettering.
The platform for the new pickup is the familiar from the 4th generation Ford Focus C2. This platform debuted in 2018. Another model on this platform is the small urban SUV Bronco Sport. Accordingly, these two cars will be maximally unified. Therefore, we can say that the Maverick pickup will receive the same engines as the Bronco Sport: in-line turbocharged Eco Boost 1.5 and 2.0, with a capacity of 183 and 253 hp. from. respectively.
The base pickup is expected to be equipped with a manual transmission and front-wheel drive in order to lower the entry price of the model to the market.
The car is manufactured at the Ford plant in Mexico. The model itself is designed primarily for the markets of North and South America, where this class of cars is most in demand.
